Course overview

Earn your first SSI professional rating with the SSI Divemaster program on Grand Cayman, qualifying you to guide and supervise certified divers. Building experience across the island's West and North Walls, the USS Kittiwake wreck and the famous stingray flats, you develop the leadership and judgement to lead divers in the warm, exceptionally clear Caribbean. You complete the program prepared to guide independently and move toward instructor training.

What you’ll learn

• Guide and supervise certified divers on wall, reef and wreck dives
• Assist SSI professionals with students in confined and open water
• Demonstrate scuba skills to professional standard
• Plan dives, deliver briefings and map dive sites
• Manage diver risk and respond to in-water emergencies
• Build stamina through the SSI watermanship assessments

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• SSI Stress & Rescue (or recognised rescue certification)
• SSI Science of Diving completed
• At least 40 logged dives
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and watermanship

   Program overview, centre orientation and the SSI stamina and watermanship assessments.
2. Day2
   Academics

   Science of diving and dive-leadership theory through the SSI digital platform.
3. Day3
   Skills and rescue

   Refine demonstration-quality skills and complete the stress-and-rescue assessment.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Map a site, deliver briefings and run dive-leadership scenarios.
5. Day5
   Guiding internship

   Guide certified divers on the West Wall and reef sites and assist on courses.
6. Day6
   Assessment and certification

   Final evaluation, internship sign-off and your SSI Divemaster certification.
