Course overview

Become a PADI Divemaster on Grand Cayman and earn your first professional rating, which qualifies you to supervise certified divers and assist on training courses. Interning across the island's West and North Wall dives, the USS Kittiwake wreck and the shallow stingray flats, you build the stamina, judgement and dive-leadership skills the rating demands in some of the clearest, warmest water in the Caribbean. You finish ready to guide divers and begin a career in the dive industry.

What you’ll learn

• Supervise and guide certified divers safely on reef, wall and wreck sites
• Assist a PADI Instructor with student divers in confined and open water
• Demonstrate all 24 core scuba skills to demonstration quality
• Conduct dive briefings, mapping and emergency-management scenarios
• Lead Discover Local Diving and refresher activities
• Build stamina through the timed swim, float and skill exercises

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response training within the past 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and watermanship

   Course overview, dive-centre orientation and the timed swim, snorkel and float stamina assessments.
2. Day2
   Knowledge development

   Work through dive theory and Divemaster academics with exam preparation.
3. Day3
   Skills and rescue

   Polish the 24 demonstration-quality skills and complete the rescue assessment.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Map a dive site, deliver briefings and run search-and-recovery and deep-dive scenarios.
5. Day5
   Guiding internship

   Lead certified divers on West Wall and reef dives and assist on real courses.
6. Day6
   Assessment and certification

   Final exams, internship sign-off and your PADI Divemaster certification.
