Course overview

Launch your scuba career with the SSI Divemaster course on Gili Trawangan, SSI's first professional rating. Mentored on the island's turtle-rich reefs such as Turtle Heaven and Shark Point, you build dive-leadership, supervision and theory skills to guide certified divers safely through warm 27-29°C water and Gili's gentle drifts.

What you’ll learn

• Lead and supervise certified divers on Gili reef sites
• Demonstrate scuba skills to SSI professional standard
• Apply SSI dive-theory: physics, physiology, equipment and dive planning
• Run dive-site mapping, briefings and group management
• Assist SSI instructors during training programmes
• Complete stamina and diver-rescue assessments

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer / Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue (or equivalent) and a current React Right first-aid rating
• At least 40 logged dives to begin, 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & water skills

   Programme overview, digital academics introduction and stamina assessments in calm Gili water.
2. Day2
   Skills & theory

   Skill demonstrations and SSI dive-theory covering physics, physiology and planning.
3. Day3
   Practical workshops

   Dive-site mapping and supervision practice at sites like Shark Point.
4. Day4
   Internship & guiding

   Assist instructors and guide certified divers on Gili's turtle reefs.
5. Day5
   Assessment & certification

   Final theory, rescue assessment review and Divemaster sign-off.
