Course overview

Earn the SSI Dive Guide rating in Coron and take your first professional step among Palawan's renowned WWII Japanese wreck fleet. Through SSI's modular digital system you develop the supervision, planning and rescue skills needed to guide certified divers across sites ranging from the shallow Lusong Gunboat to the deeper Olympia Maru in warm 27-29C water. The qualification lets you lead certified divers and support instructors on courses.

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• SSI Diver Stress & Rescue certification
• Current CPR, first aid and oxygen-provider training
• At least 40 logged dives
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory

   Work through SSI Science of Diving and Dive Guide knowledge modules on the digital platform.
2. Day2
   Skills & stamina

   Complete water-skills demonstrations and timed stamina evaluations.
3. Day3
   Rescue & scenarios

   Rehearse rescue scenarios and emergency-management drills.
4. Day4
   Guiding workshops

   Practise dive briefings and group leadership on sites such as the Lusong Gunboat.
5. Day5
   Site mapping & internship

   Map a local site and assist an instructor with real divers.
6. Day6
   Final evaluation

   Lead a certified-diver group and complete the professional assessment.
