Course overview

Take your first breaths underwater with the SSI Try Scuba experience in the Solomon Islands, set among the Pacific's untouched reefs and warm 27-30°C water. With an SSI professional beside you the whole time, you explore a shallow, sheltered reef around Guadalcanal teeming with tropical fish and coral. No prior experience or certification is needed.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater using scuba equipment for the first time
• Equalise and descend gently in shallow water
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Control simple movement and buoyancy over the reef
• Stay with your instructor and follow safety basics

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Reasonable comfort in the water
• Complete a brief medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Try scuba

   Equipment and safety briefing, basic skills in shallow water, then a supervised reef dive to a maximum of 12 metres on a sheltered Guadalcanal reef.
