Course overview

SSI Try Scuba on the Perhentian Islands gives complete beginners their first breaths underwater, no certification needed. After a relaxed briefing you enter the warm, calm shallows off Long Beach with an instructor beside you to explore coral alive with clownfish, parrotfish and the occasional turtle.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe and relax underwater on scuba
• Equalise ears and clear the mask
• Handle basic scuba gear with instructor help
• Move gently through shallow water
• Use simple hand signals to communicate

Prerequisites

• No experience or swimming certification required
• Minimum age 10
• Reasonable health and comfort in water
• Complete a brief medical questionnaire before diving
