Course overview

Take your first breaths underwater with the SSI Try Scuba experience at Kovalam, guided one-to-one by an SSI professional in the warm Arabian Sea. A short briefing and shallow-water practice lead into a supervised dive over the Kovalam reef to around 12 metres. No certification or swimming background is needed, making it the perfect taster.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater on scuba with confidence
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Equalise and stay comfortable while submerged
• Follow basic safety rules and dive signals

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No prior diving experience or certification required
• No swimming certification required
• Reasonable health; a short medical questionnaire is completed beforehand

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and shallow practice

   Meet your SSI instructor, cover the basics and practise breathing and core skills in shallow water.
2. Day1
   Guided reef dive

   Make a supervised dive to around 12 metres over the Kovalam reef among reef fish and other marine life.
