Course overview

Experience scuba for the first time with the SSI Try Scuba experience on Bangaram Island, descending into the calm, clear lagoon of India's remote Lakshadweep atoll resort. With an instructor at your side you breathe underwater and explore the warm 27-30C reef shallows teeming with coral and tropical fish. It is a relaxed, beginner-friendly taste of diving in a truly pristine setting.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater comfortably with scuba gear
• Equalise and clear your mask
• Recover and clear the regulator
• Maintain basic buoyancy and movement
• Use simple underwater hand signals

Prerequisites

• No experience or certification required
• No swimming certification required, basic water comfort helps
• Minimum age 10
• Reasonable health; a brief medical questionnaire applies

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Try Scuba

   Complete a briefing, practise basic skills in the lagoon shallows, then make a guided dive on Bangaram's house reef to a maximum of 12 metres.
