Course overview

Take your first breaths underwater with the SSI Try Scuba experience in Ambon on the Banda Sea. With an instructor beside you the whole time, you practise a handful of basic skills in shallow water and make a guided dive to a maximum of 12 metres over a gentle local reef — no certification or experience required.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater on scuba for the first time
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Equalise and manage basic buoyancy
• Use simple underwater hand signals
• Swim with your instructor on a guided dive
• Follow basic scuba safety rules

Prerequisites

• No experience or swimming certification required
• Minimum age 10
• Comfortable being in the water
• Complete a short medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)
