Course overview

The SSI Try Scuba experience is a relaxed, instructor-led first taste of diving in Alor, with no certification needed. Following a brief introduction you breathe underwater on a shallow, sheltered reef and meet the vivid marine life of this remote Indonesian island under close supervision.

What you’ll learn

• Breathe underwater using scuba gear
• Equalise your ears and clear water from your mask
• Find basic buoyancy and move underwater
• Use simple hand-signal communication
• Follow your instructor on a shallow reef
• Grasp the basic safety rules of diving

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Basic comfort in water
• No prior training needed
• Able to complete a brief medical questionnaire
