Course overview

Reach the recreational depth limit safely with the SSI Deep Diving specialty in Raja Ampat, where steep walls and pinnacles such as Mike's Point and Cape Mansuar drop well beyond 30 metres. The course teaches deep-dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness so you can explore the deeper reef and pelagic zones with control.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives to a maximum of 40 metres
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Manage air consumption and no-stop limits at depth
• Execute controlled descents, ascents and safety stops
• Understand the effect of depth on light, colour and gas
• Handle deeper currents and contingency situations

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• Comfortable with dives to 18-30 metres
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Academics and first dives

   Complete the SSI deep-diving theory and your first dives toward greater depth.
2. Day2
   Deep dives and certification

   Run narcosis and gas-management exercises on wall sites like Mike's Point and certify.
