Course overview

Extend your range to 40 metres with the SSI Deep Diving specialty on the deep walls of Mauritius's west coast. Training from Flic-en-Flac on sites such as Cathedral, where the topography plunges well past 30 metres, you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness. The SSI digital theory lets you prepare before your trip and maximise water time.

What you’ll learn

• Plan deep dives within recreational limits to 40 metres
• Manage air, no-decompression limits and safety stops at depth
• Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis
• Account for reduced light and colour loss
• Carry and use a redundant air source where appropriate
• Apply ascent and contingency planning for deep dives

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• Solid buoyancy and air-consumption control
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Digital theory and first dives

   Complete SSI deep theory, then dive west-coast walls building toward 40 metres.
2. Day2
   Deeper dives and certification

   Practise planning and narcosis-awareness exercises on deeper dives, then earn your SSI Deep Diving certification.
