Course overview

Push your limits to recreational depth with the SSI Deep Diving specialty in Ambon on the Banda Sea, where wall sites and the Twilight Zone slope drop well below the reef. Through the SSI digital system you learn to plan and manage dives to 40 metres while controlling gas, narcosis and decompression status, finishing certified as an SSI Deep Diver.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to the recreational limit of 40 metres
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Manage gas supply and no-decompression limits at depth
• Perform correct safety and deep stops
• Use redundant gas and build contingency plans
• Understand depth effects on light, colour and temperature

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent certification
• Comfort with multilevel and deeper diving
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & deeper dives

   Complete the MySSI deep academics, then make initial deeper dives on a local wall.
2. Day2
   Depth & certification

   Progress toward the 40m maximum with narcosis and gas-management drills, then certify.
