Course overview

The SSI Deep Diving specialty in Alor takes you to 40 metres so you can explore the archipelago's plunging walls and deeper pelagic zones. On sites such as Bama, where the wall drops past 40 metres, you master deep-dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness while scanning for sharks, dogtooth tuna and schooling fish.

What you’ll learn

• Plan deep dives with proper time, depth and gas limits
• Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis
• Track air use and set turn pressures at depth
• Execute controlled ascents with reference lines and safety stops
• Maintain buoyancy and trim along deep walls
• Handle deep-diving contingencies

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• SSI Advanced Adventurer or equivalent
• Solid buoyancy and ascent control
• Adequate logged dives to dive confidently at depth
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first deep dives

   Complete the SSI digital module and dive progressively deeper on an Alor wall.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres

   Reach the 40-metre range on a site such as Bama, practising gas management and controlled ascents.
