Course overview

The PADI Deep Diver specialty in Alor extends your limit to 40 metres, opening up the archipelago's dramatic walls and deeper pelagic action. On sites like Bama, where a great wall drops past 40 metres, you learn deep-dive planning, gas management and how to handle narcosis while watching for dogtooth tuna, sharks and the occasional mola mola.

What you’ll learn

• Plan deep dives including time, depth and gas-supply limits
• Recognise and manage nitrogen narcosis
• Monitor air consumption and set turn-around pressures at depth
• Use a reference line and safety stops for controlled ascents
• Manage buoyancy and trim along deep walls
• Respond to deep-diving contingencies and emergencies

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• Comfortable with buoyancy control and ascent control
• Sufficient logged dives to dive confidently at depth
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first deep dives

   Cover deep-dive planning and narcosis, then complete two progressively deeper dives on an Alor wall.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres

   Run your final dives to the 40-metre range on a site such as Bama, practising gas management and controlled ascents.
