Course overview

Get a real taste of certified diving with the SSI Basic Diver course in the Seychelles, a short programme that takes you beyond a single try-dive on Mahe's sheltered reefs. Training in the calm waters near Beau Vallon, you learn core scuba skills and make supervised dives over coral and granite reef. It is an ideal stepping stone that can later upgrade to full Open Water certification.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble and use basic scuba equipment
• Breathe, descend and ascend safely with supervision
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Control buoyancy and move comfortably underwater
• Communicate with standard hand signals
• Make supervised dives to a maximum of 12 metres

Prerequisites

• No prior experience required
• Minimum age 10 (per SSI standards)
• Basic comfort and ability in water
• Able to complete a brief medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Skills & first dive

   Digital introduction and confined-water skills in the sheltered shallows near Beau Vallon, then a first supervised reef dive.
2. Day2
   Supervised diving

   A further supervised dive to a maximum of 12 metres on Mahe's coral and granite reef, then certify.
