Course overview

The SSI Basic Diver / Scuba Skills Update course in Muscat is a short programme that introduces core scuba skills over two days in Oman's calm coastal water, an ideal bridge between trying scuba and committing to full Open Water certification. You complete confined-water practice and guided shallow dives near Bandar Khayran, building real competence step by step. You finish with foundational scuba skills logged toward your Open Water training.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and use basic scuba equipment
• Breathe comfortably and equalise underwater
• Clear the mask and recover the regulator
• Control buoyancy at shallow depth
• Communicate using standard hand signals
• Move confidently and safely on a shallow reef

Prerequisites

• No experience or swimming certification required
• Minimum age 10
• Reasonable health and comfort in water
• Complete a short medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Skills & first dive

   Learn basic theory and equipment, practise core skills in confined water and complete a first shallow dive near Muscat.
2. Day2
   Reef dive & review

   Build on the skills with a second guided shallow dive at Bandar Khayran and review progress toward Open Water.
