Course overview

Get a structured first introduction to scuba in Coron with the SSI Basic Diver programme, a guided stepping stone between a single try-dive and the full Open Water course. Over two days in warm 27-29C water you build confined-water skills and make supervised open-water dives to a maximum of 12 metres, possibly visiting a shallow wreck such as the Lusong Gunboat. It is an ideal confidence-builder before committing to certification.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble and use basic scuba equipment
• Breathe and move comfortably underwater
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Control buoyancy and equalise correctly
• Communicate with standard hand signals
• Dive under supervision to a maximum of 12 metres

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• No experience or swimming certification required
• Comfortable being in the water
• Complete a medical questionnaire; some conditions require doctor sign-off

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Skills foundation

   Introductory theory and a confined-water session to master breathing, mask clearing and buoyancy basics.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives

   Make supervised open-water dives to a maximum of 12 metres on sheltered sites such as the Lusong Gunboat, then receive Basic Diver recognition.
