Course overview

The PADI Wreck Diver specialty teaches you to explore sunken ships safely and is perfectly suited to Zanzibar, where historic wrecks lie off Stone Town. You learn survey, mapping and penetration techniques on sites such as the shallow British cable-laying ship resting in 4-12m and the deeper, purposefully sunk Royal Navy lighter around 30m.

The PADI Wreck Diver specialty completes four dives and counts toward the Master Scuba Diver rating. Deeper wrecks beyond 18m are best combined with the PADI Deep Diver specialty for proper training to depth.

Where you'll dive in Zanzibar

Stone Town offers Zanzibar's standout wrecks: a 19th-century British cable-laying ship sitting in just 4-12m that suits beginners, and a deeper purposely sunk navy lighter near 30m for more experienced divers, both wreathed in coral and reef life.
