Course overview

The PADI Wreck Diver specialty on Tioman teaches you to explore sunken ships and structures safely and methodically. Tioman's waters hold both old and new wrecks alongside its reefs, giving the four specialty dives a real focus as you learn survey, navigation, penetration and line-laying techniques on genuine underwater wrecks.

What you’ll learn

• Survey and map a wreck and assess hazards
• Navigate around the exterior of a wreck safely
• Use penetration lines and reels for limited penetration
• Plan dives for the special challenges wrecks present
• Manage air, light and silt-out conditions inside structures
• Understand the legal and conservation considerations of wreck diving

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15 (or 10 for Junior, on appropriate wrecks)
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Deep Diver specialty recommended for deeper wrecks
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Survey and navigation

   Knowledge review, then two dives covering wreck survey, mapping and safe exterior navigation.
2. Day2
   Lines and exploration

   Two further dives practising line-laying and, where qualified, limited penetration on a Tioman wreck, then certify.
