Course overview

Explore Phuket's celebrated shipwrecks with the PADI Wreck Diver specialty, centred on the King Cruiser, the sunken ferry that now sits as one of the Andaman Sea's most popular wreck dives. You learn safe survey, navigation and penetration techniques over four wreck dives, gaining the skills to responsibly explore sunken ships, planes and structures. It pairs naturally with the Deep Diver specialty.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and survey a wreck dive safely
• Use guidelines and reels for navigation around a wreck
• Map and assess the layout of a wreck
• Manage hazards such as entanglement and disorientation
• Practise responsible, low-impact wreck diving
• Apply limited penetration techniques where appropriate

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or higher (Advanced Open Water recommended)
• Comfortable with the depths involved (up to 30 metres)
• Diver medical clearance where required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Survey and navigation

   Theory and dive planning, then two wreck dives focused on external survey and reel use on the King Cruiser.
2. Day2
   Mapping and penetration

   Two further wreck dives practising mapping and limited penetration techniques, then certification.
