Course overview

PADI Scuba Diver is a subset of the Open Water course and a great option if you are short on time, certifying you to dive to 12 metres under the supervision of a PADI professional. Training in the calm waters off Nilaveli and on the reefs of Pigeon Island Marine Park, you complete the first portion of the Open Water programme and can upgrade to full Open Water Diver later.

• Equalise, clear your mask and recover the regulator
• Control buoyancy and move efficiently
• Plan a simple dive with a buddy and professional
• Dive to 12 metres under professional supervision

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10
• Able to swim and comfortable in the water
• Reasonable physical health (medical questionnaire applies)
• No prior certification required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Cover the first knowledge sections and confined-water skills in the calm shallows off Nilaveli.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives & certification

   Make the two open-water training dives to 12 metres on the Pigeon Island reefs and certify as a PADI Scuba Diver.
