Course overview

Build the confidence to prevent and manage diving emergencies with the PADI Rescue Diver course at Nusa Penida, widely regarded as the most rewarding recreational certification. The course's self-rescue and rescue scenarios are especially valuable in Nusa Penida's strong drift currents and cold thermoclines, where situational awareness and good buddy skills genuinely matter. You finish ready to help yourself and other divers and to progress towards professional ratings.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and tired- and panicked-diver techniques
• Search for and surface an unresponsive diver and give in-water rescue breaths

• Use oxygen and coordinate an emergency response plan

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15 for Rescue Diver
• PADI Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation, or equivalent
• Current Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (within 24 months)
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & EFR

   Complete the knowledge reviews and, if needed, the Emergency First Response CPR and first-aid course.
2. Day2
   Rescue exercises

   Work through the ten rescue skills in sheltered water at a calm site such as Sental.
3. Day3
   Scenario assessments

   Apply your skills in two realistic rescue scenarios in open water, practising response in current.
