Course overview

Become a PADI Rescue Diver in North Malé Atoll and learn to prevent and manage diving emergencies in the atoll's open-water and channel conditions. Through scenarios on resort house reefs and nearby sites you practise self-rescue, tired-diver tows and missing-diver searches, emerging a calmer, more capable buddy and an essential step toward professional ratings.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent dive-related problems before they escalate
• Perform self-rescue and manage diver stress
• Assist tired, panicked and unresponsive divers at the surface
• Conduct missing-diver searches and bring a diver up safely
• Provide in-water rescue breaths and plan an emergency response
• Manage a small-scale dive accident as a team

Prerequisites

• PADI (Junior) Adventure Diver with Underwater Navigation, or equivalent
• Minimum age 12
• Current EFR / CPR and first aid certification within the past 24 months (can be completed here)
• Completion of a diver medical questionnaire; physician sign-off if required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Review rescue knowledge and practise self-rescue and stress-management skills in sheltered water.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Drill tows, surface assists and unresponsive-diver handling on a calm house reef.
3. Day3
   Rescue scenarios

   Run full missing-diver and unresponsive-diver scenarios on an open-water site, then certify.
