Course overview

Learn to prevent and manage diving emergencies with the PADI Rescue Diver course on Kadmat Island. Widely described as the most rewarding course in the PADI system, it has you practise self-rescue, tired-diver tows and surface and underwater rescue scenarios in the calm Lakshadweep lagoon and on the atoll's reef slopes, transforming you into a more aware and capable buddy.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and prevent diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and manage your own air and equipment problems
• Assist and tow a tired or panicked diver at the surface
• Search for, surface and provide care to an unresponsive diver
• Manage a dive emergency, including oxygen delivery
• Run a realistic accident-management scenario as a team

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver) or 15 for Rescue Diver
• PADI Adventure Diver or higher (or qualifying certification)
• Emergency First Response training within the last 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & self-rescue

   Complete the knowledge review and practise self-rescue and stress recognition in the sheltered lagoon.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Work through the ten rescue exercises, including tired-diver tows and surfacing an unresponsive diver.
3. Day3
   Rescue scenarios

   Put it all together in two full open-water rescue scenarios on Kadmat's reef slopes.
