Course overview

Become a more confident, capable diver with the PADI Rescue Diver course in Ambon on the Banda Sea, learning to prevent and manage in-water problems. Across self-rescue and emergency scenarios staged in calm Ambon Bay you build the judgement to handle stressed, tired or unresponsive divers — skills that matter in the region's occasional moderate currents.

What you’ll learn

• Recognise and manage diver stress before it becomes an emergency
• Perform self-rescue and tired-diver techniques
• Search for, surface and tow an unresponsive diver
• Give in-water rescue breaths and exit a casualty from the water
• Plan and coordinate an emergency response as a team
• Use oxygen and first aid in a dive emergency

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior Rescue Diver under 15)
• PADI Adventure Diver (or Advanced Open Water) with the underwater navigation dive completed
• Emergency First Response primary and secondary care within the past 24 months
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & EFR

   Complete knowledge development and, if needed, the Emergency First Response first-aid and CPR training.
2. Day2
   Rescue skills

   Practise the ten core rescue exercises in the sheltered shallows of Ambon Bay.
3. Day3
   Scenarios & certification

   Run full open-water rescue scenarios, then debrief and certify as a PADI Rescue Diver.
