Course overview

Earn the world's most recognised entry-level scuba qualification with the PADI Open Water Diver course in Port Blair, the gateway to the Andamans. Over three to four days you progress from confined-water skills to four open-water training dives on the calm, coral-rich reefs around Chidiyatapu and the Andaman Sea, qualifying you to dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world. No previous experience is required.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and use scuba equipment
• Breathe and move comfortably underwater
• Clear your mask and recover your regulator
• Control buoyancy and ascend safely
• Plan dives with tables or a dive computer
• Respond to common underwater problems

Prerequisites

• No prior experience required
• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver 10-14)
• Able to swim and float/tread water comfortably
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if flagged)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Complete the knowledge development and begin confined-water skills in shallow, controlled water.
2. Day2
   Skills & first open-water dives

   Finish the confined-water sessions and make your first open-water training dives near Chidiyatapu.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives & exam

   Complete the remaining open-water dives in the Andaman Sea, sit the final exam and certify as an Open Water Diver.
