Course overview

Earn the certification that lets you dive independently worldwide with the PADI Open Water Diver course on Kadmat Island. Combining theory, confined-water skills in the calm Lakshadweep lagoon and four open-water dives on the atoll's coral reefs, you qualify to dive to 18 metres with a buddy in one of India's most pristine and remote diving locations.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, check and care for your scuba equipment
• Master essential skills including mask clearing and regulator recovery
• Control buoyancy and achieve neutral trim
• Plan dives using tables or a dive computer
• Manage out-of-air and other problems with a buddy
• Dive independently to 18 metres with a certified buddy

Prerequisites

• No prior experience required
• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver) or 15 for full certification
• Able to swim and float comfortably (basic water skills assessed)
• Complete a diver medical questionnaire

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & confined water

   Work through the knowledge sections and practise core skills in the calm, shallow Kadmat lagoon.
2. Day2
   Open-water dives 1 & 2

   Apply your skills on the first two open-water dives on the atoll's coral reef.
3. Day3
   Open-water dives 3 & 4

   Complete the final two open-water dives and the exam, then certify as a PADI Open Water Diver.
