Course overview

Become a fully certified diver with the PADI Open Water Diver course on Grand Cayman, the world's most popular scuba certification taught in some of the clearest, warmest water anywhere. Over classroom or e-learning theory, confined-water skills and four open-water dives on the island's calm reefs, you earn the qualification to dive independently to 18 metres worldwide. It is the ideal place to learn, with gentle conditions and superb visibility.

What you’ll learn

• Assemble, use and maintain scuba equipment
• Breathe, move and communicate underwater
• Clear the mask, recover the regulator and share air
• Achieve neutral buoyancy and control ascents
• Plan dives using tables or a dive computer
• Dive independently with a buddy to 18 metres

Prerequisites

• No prior scuba certification required
• Minimum age 10 (Junior Open Water Diver)
• Able to swim and float comfortably
• Complete the diver medical questionnaire (clearance if indicated)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory and confined water

   Work through the knowledge sections and practise core skills in calm, shallow water near George Town.
2. Day2
   First open-water dives

   Make your first two training dives on a gentle Cayman reef, applying your skills in open water.
3. Day3
   Final dives and certification

   Complete the final two open-water dives, pass the exam and earn your PADI Open Water Diver certification.
