Course overview

The PADI Night Diver specialty on Tioman reveals a completely different reef after dark, when hunting moray eels, octopus and crustaceans emerge and the boulder gardens light up with bioluminescence. Across three night dives you learn to use lights, navigate in the dark and communicate at night while exploring Tioman's sheltered shore and reef sites.

What you’ll learn

• Plan, organise and execute night dives safely
• Communicate with light signals after dark
• Navigate and maintain orientation at night
• Use a primary and backup dive light effectively
• Identify nocturnal marine life and night behaviour
• Enter, exit and manage buoyancy in low visibility

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfort with basic buoyancy and navigation
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Night-diving skills

   Evening briefing and knowledge review, then three night dives over the course of the programme practising light signals, night navigation and nocturnal marine-life spotting before certification.
