Course overview

See the reef transform after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty at Khao Lak. Across three night dives on the sheltered local reefs you learn light handling, navigation and communication in the dark, encountering nocturnal hunters and bioluminescence before applying the skills on the Similan Islands' richer sites.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute safe night dives
• Use primary and backup dive lights effectively
• Communicate with light signals after dark
• Navigate and maintain orientation at night
• Identify nocturnal marine life and behaviour
• Manage buoyancy and the buddy team in low visibility

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior) / 15 for Night Diver
• PADI Open Water Diver or qualifying certification
• Comfortable with basic navigation and buoyancy
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first night dive

   Cover night-diving theory, then complete the first night dive on a familiar local reef near Khao Lak.
2. Day2
   Night dives & certification

   Complete two more night dives focused on navigation and marine-life observation, then certify.
