See the reef transform after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty at Kovalam, diving the warm Arabian Sea as nocturnal marine life emerges. Over guided night dives on the Kovalam reef you learn to navigate, communicate and manage your light in low visibility, spotting hunting octopus, lionfish and other creatures rarely seen by day. You finish certified as a PADI Night Diver.
The PADI Night Diver specialty requires three night dives and counts toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating. The first night dive can be credited from the Advanced Open Water night adventure dive.
Night dives take place over the Kovalam reef in the Arabian Sea, where nocturnal reef fish, the occasional turtle, barracuda, octopus, lionfish, moray eels and stingrays become active after dark; the calm post-monsoon season (roughly October to March) with warm 27-30°C water makes for comfortable evening diving.
