Course overview

Discover the reef after dark with the PADI Night Diver specialty on Gili Trawangan, where the island's sites transform as nocturnal life emerges. Across three night dives you learn light use, navigation and communication while spotting hunting reef sharks, octopus and other after-dark creatures in warm 27-29°C water.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and conduct dives safely after dark
• Use a primary and backup dive light effectively
• Communicate with light signals at night
• Navigate and maintain orientation in the dark
• Identify nocturnal marine life and behaviour

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfort with basic buoyancy control
• Diver medical clearance where required

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   First night dive

   Evening briefing and theory, then your first night dive practising light use and signalling on a calm Gili reef.
2. Day2
   Night dives & certification

   Two more night dives focusing on navigation and nocturnal marine life, then certification.
