Course overview

The PADI Night Diver specialty reveals a completely different Alor after dark, when octopus, hunting bluefin trevallies and crustaceans emerge across the reefs. Over a series of guided night dives you learn light technique, night navigation and communication so you can explore Alor's macro-rich slopes safely once the sun sets.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute a safe night dive
• Use primary and backup dive lights effectively
• Communicate with light signals after dark
• Navigate and stay oriented in low visibility
• Identify nocturnal marine life and behaviour
• Enter, exit and maintain buddy contact at night

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Comfortable with buoyancy and basic navigation
• Confident entering and exiting in low light
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & first night dive

   Cover night-diving theory and light technique, then complete your first guided night dive on a sheltered reef.
2. Day2
   Navigation after dark

   Practise night navigation and light signals on your second dive while spotting nocturnal hunters.
3. Day3
   Final night dive

   Apply your skills independently on a final night dive, watching octopus and crustaceans on the prowl.
