Course overview

Sharpen your underwater orientation with the PADI Underwater Navigator specialty in Rasdhoo Atoll, where channel currents and big drift sites make confident navigation a genuinely valuable skill. You will master compass and natural navigation on the atoll's reefs and finish certified to find your way, lead your buddy team, and dive with far more independence.

What you’ll learn

• Navigate accurately with a compass on reciprocal and square patterns
• Use natural references such as reef contours, ripples and depth
• Estimate distance by kick cycles and elapsed time
• Mark and relocate an underwater point of interest
• Lead a navigation dive and orient a buddy team
• Plan navigation in mild current and drift conditions

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 12
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & navigation dives

   Compass and natural-navigation theory, then three dives running patterns and relocating points at a reef site such as Holhi Faru, followed by certification.
