Course overview

Sharpen your sense of direction underwater with the PADI Underwater Navigation Specialty on Bangaram Island, learning to navigate confidently on the coral reefs and lagoon of remote Lakshadweep. You master compass and natural navigation so you can find your way back and lead dives independently. The course earns you the PADI Underwater Navigator certification.

What you’ll learn

• Navigate accurately using a compass on reciprocal and square patterns
• Use natural references such as reef contours, ripples and sand patterns
• Estimate distance by kick cycles and timed swims
• Mark and relocate a dive site or feature underwater
• Plan and follow a navigation pattern to a target
• Manage navigation as part of overall dive planning

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 10 (Junior) or 15
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher
• Basic buoyancy control
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Navigation foundations

   Cover the theory then complete the navigation dives on Bangaram's lagoon and reefs, practising compass and natural-reference techniques and earning your certification.
