Cross the line from leading dives to teaching them with the PADI Instructor Development Course on Bangaram Island, India's only true tropical island-resort dive base in remote Lakshadweep. The sheltered, glass-clear lagoon and warm 27-30C water give instructor candidates a forgiving, low-traffic classroom to rehearse teaching presentations and lock down standards before the independent Instructor Examination. You finish the IDC ready to certify divers of your own and join the worldwide community of PADI professionals.
The PADI IDC trains and assesses you against PADI standards, then prepares you for the Instructor Examination, which is run independently by a PADI Examiner. On passing the IE you become a teaching member of PADI with a renewable Open Water Scuba Instructor rating, access to professional insurance and the global PADI jobs network.
Teaching workshops use Bangaram's sheltered lagoon and adjacent coral reefs, where calm conditions, excellent visibility and warm water through the October-to-May season create an ideal, low-stress setting to rehearse confined- and open-water teaching. The Instructor Examination itself is conducted separately by a PADI Examiner at a designated IE location.
