Course overview

The PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) specialty lets you extend your no-decompression bottom time using oxygen-enriched air, a real advantage on Zanzibar's reef and wall dives. It is largely a knowledge course with no required dives, so you can certify in a day and apply it immediately around Mnemba and Stone Town.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the benefits and limits of enriched air
• Set and manage maximum operating depth for a given mix
• Analyse a cylinder's oxygen content and log it
• Set a dive computer for enriched-air diving
• Recognise and avoid oxygen-toxicity risks
• Plan longer no-stop dives within safe limits

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (Junior)
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

1. Day1
   Enriched air theory

   Complete the knowledge development and exam, practise analysing cylinders and setting your computer, then optionally log enriched-air dives on Mnemba or Stone Town reefs.
