Course overview

Extend your no-decompression time with the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver specialty at Kovalam, the most popular PADI specialty. Largely a knowledge course, it teaches you to analyse and dive with enriched-air blends so you can enjoy longer dives and shorter surface intervals on the warm Kovalam reef. You finish certified to dive nitrox to 40 percent oxygen.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the benefits and limits of enriched air
• Analyse a cylinder's oxygen content
• Set maximum operating depth for a given blend
• Configure a dive computer for nitrox
• Plan dives to extend no-decompression limits safely

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12 (junior) or 15
• PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or higher
• No prior nitrox experience required
• Diver medical questionnaire (physician sign-off if any condition applies)

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory, analysis and optional dive

   Complete the enriched-air knowledge, practise analysing and labelling cylinders, and optionally make an enriched-air dive on the Kovalam reef, then certify.
