Course overview

Extend your bottom time on Hikkaduwa's reefs and wrecks with the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) specialty. By learning to dive with higher-oxygen blends you gain longer no-decompression limits on the multi-dive days that suit Sri Lanka's south-coast wreck and reef sites. This is a knowledge-based course you can complete in a day, with optional dives to apply your skills.

What you’ll learn

• Understand the benefits and limits of enriched air
• Analyse a cylinder's oxygen content with an analyser
• Calculate maximum operating depth for a given blend
• Set a dive computer for enriched-air diving
• Manage oxygen exposure and partial-pressure limits
• Plan extended no-decompression dives safely

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 12
• PADI Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• No prior nitrox experience required
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Nitrox knowledge & analysis

   Complete the enriched-air theory and exam, practise analysing cylinders and calculating maximum operating depths, with optional reef or wreck dives to apply your new skills.
