Course overview

The PADI Emergency First Response course teaches primary and secondary care (CPR and first aid) to anyone, diver or not, and is a dry, classroom-based programme you can complete in a day in Trincomalee. It satisfies the first-aid prerequisite for the PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster courses, making it a natural step for anyone progressing toward professional diving on Sri Lanka's east coast.

What you’ll learn

• Perform CPR and primary care for a non-responsive patient
• Provide secondary care for injuries and illnesses that are not life-threatening
• Use barriers to reduce disease-transmission risk
• Conduct scene assessment and a primary survey
• Manage shock, serious bleeding and spinal injury
• Apply bandaging and splinting techniques

Prerequisites

• No prior experience or certification required
• Open to divers and non-divers
• No minimum age for participation (certification suits motivated participants)
• No swimming or medical clearance required for this dry course
