Course overview

Build the confidence to act in an emergency with the PADI Emergency First Response (EFR) course on Bangaram Island, a self-contained first-aid and CPR programme that is also the prerequisite for Rescue Diver and professional ratings. Held in the resort classroom, it teaches primary and secondary care for any layperson, diver or not, on the remote Lakshadweep atoll. You leave with a recognised EFR certification valid for 24 months.

What you’ll learn

• Perform CPR and use the steps of primary (life-threatening) care
• Provide secondary care for injuries and illnesses that are not life-threatening
• Conduct a scene assessment and barrier-protected response
• Manage shock, serious bleeding and spinal-injury patients
• Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and emergency oxygen overview
• Apply first-aid bandaging and illness-assessment techniques

Prerequisites

• No prior experience or certification required
• No minimum age for participation; certification suitable for divers and non-divers
• Suitable for anyone wanting first-aid and CPR skills
• No swimming or in-water component

   Primary and secondary care

   Complete CPR and first-aid theory, then practise the full skill sequence and scenarios in the resort classroom to earn your EFR certification.
