Course overview

Begin your professional diving career with the PADI Divemaster course in Trincomalee, your first leadership-level certification. Working the reefs of Pigeon Island Marine Park and the deeper sites around Trincomalee bay, you build the stamina, dive-management and supervision skills needed to guide certified divers and assist instructors. You finish ready to work as a PADI Divemaster anywhere in the world.

What you’ll learn

• Supervise and guide certified divers safely on east-coast reefs
• Assist a PADI Instructor with students in confined and open water
• Conduct dive briefings, mapping and site management
• Demonstrate all 24 skills to demonstration quality
• Run rescue scenarios and manage diver emergencies
• Complete dive-theory exams and stamina assessments

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
• Emergency First Response / CPR within the last 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Theory & water skills

   Dive-theory study and the stamina assessments, including the timed swim and tired-diver tow.
2. Day2
   Skills circuit

   Polish the 24-skill demonstration circuit to instructor-quality standard.
3. Day3
   Practical workshops

   Deep, search-and-recovery and underwater mapping workshops on Trincomalee sites.
4. Day4
   Internship begins

   Assist an instructor with real students in the calm bays off Nilaveli.
5. Day5
   Guiding practice

   Lead certified divers on Pigeon Island reefs, running full briefings and site management.
6. Day6
   Final assessment

   Complete remaining exams and workshops and certify as a PADI Divemaster.
