Course overview

Become a PADI Divemaster on Tioman and take your first step into the diving profession on an island whose 20-plus dive sites, sheltered bays and UNESCO marine-park reefs make an ideal training ground. Over the programme you build stamina and dive-leadership skills guiding certified divers around sites like Renggis Island and the boulder swim-throughs of the north coast, finishing as a certified dive professional able to supervise activities and assist on courses.

What you’ll learn

• Supervise and guide certified divers safely on Tioman's reefs
• Demonstrate all 24 dive skills to demonstration quality
• Assist a PADI Instructor on courses and conduct selected programmes
• Plan dives and map a dive site, including local conditions and currents
• Run the stamina, rescue-assessment and dive-management workshops
• Apply dive theory across physics, physiology, equipment and the RDP

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) plus current EFR/CPR training
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation and theory

   Programme briefing, dive-theory study and the start of knowledge-development modules.
2. Day2
   Water-skills and stamina

   Complete the swim, snorkel and tow assessments and refine the 24 demonstration-quality skills.
3. Day3
   Dive leadership

   Guide certified divers and practise briefings at reef sites such as Renggis Island.
4. Day4
   Mapping and rescue

   Carry out the dive-site mapping project and the rescue-skills assessment.
5. Day5
   Practical application

   Assist an instructor on a live student course and run dive-management scenarios.
6. Day6
   Exams and certification

   Sit the dive-theory and Divemaster exams and complete final sign-off.
