Course overview

Earn your first professional rating with the PADI Divemaster course in Rasdhoo Atoll, learning to guide certified divers through the channel drifts and shark-rich corners that make this small island famous. Over an extended programme you build stamina, dive-leadership judgement and local-site knowledge while assisting instructors on real courses, emerging ready to lead guided dives at sites like Madivaru Corner and Hammerhead Point.

What you’ll learn

• Guide certified divers safely in drift and moderate-current conditions
• Conduct thorough site briefings, hazard assessments and dive plans
• Demonstrate all 24 scuba skills to demonstration quality
• Assist instructors with student divers in confined and open water
• Map a dive site and lead a scuba review and skin-dive session
• Apply dive-leadership theory, rescue judgement and risk management

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (CPR & first aid) within the last 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & theory

   Programme briefing, dive-theory study and the start of knowledge reviews.
2. Day2
   Water-skills assessment

   Complete the stamina swims, tired-diver tow and demonstration-quality skill circuit.
3. Day3
   Site mapping & briefings

   Map a local reef and practise full briefings on sites such as Veligandu East.
4. Day4
   Practical workshops

   Search-and-recovery, deep-dive and emergency-management scenarios in open water.
5. Day5
   Internship in the channels

   Assist instructors and guide certified divers through drifts at Madivaru Corner and the channels.
6. Day6
   Assessment & certification

   Final exams, rescue assessment and review of your dive-leadership portfolio.
