Course overview

Become a PADI Divemaster in Papua New Guinea and take your first professional step from leading certified divers around the reefs of Kimbe Bay. Working alongside instructors across the bay's seamounts and island fringing reefs, you build the stamina, judgement and dive-leadership skills needed to guide groups in one of the world's richest coral environments. Certification qualifies you to supervise dives and assist on courses worldwide.

What you’ll learn

• Guide and supervise certified divers on Kimbe Bay reefs
• Plan dives accounting for tides, currents and group experience
• Assist instructors with student divers in confined and open water
• Conduct dive briefings, mapping and emergency-management scenarios
• Demonstrate dive skills to a professional, modelling standard
• Develop the fitness and problem-solving expected of a dive professional

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver certification
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within the last 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & theory

   Programme briefing, dive-theory study and the start of your knowledge-development modules.
2. Day2
   Water-skills assessment

   Stamina swims, tired-diver tow and equipment-exchange exercises in sheltered bay water.
3. Day3
   Practical workshops

   Dive-site mapping and briefing practice on a Kimbe Bay reef, plus search-and-recovery drills.
4. Day4
   Internship dives

   Assist instructors and lead certified divers under supervision across the bay's reefs.
5. Day5
   Assessment & certification

   Final exams, rescue-scenario review and sign-off as a PADI Divemaster.
