Course overview

Step into your first scuba career with the PADI Divemaster course at Nusa Penida, the rating that lets you guide certified divers and assist on courses. Working in the strong drifts of Toyapakeh and the cold currents of Crystal Bay turns trainees into confident dive leaders who can read tides, brief sites and manage groups in genuinely demanding conditions. It is the gateway to professional diving and a prerequisite for becoming an instructor.

What you’ll learn

• Plan, organise and lead certified divers in current-prone open water
• Demonstrate the 24 dive skills to a professional demonstration standard
• Conduct the dive-leadership and stamina assessments
• Assist instructors with students in confined and open water
• Map a dive site and run effective briefings and debriefings
• Manage diver problems and emergencies as a dive professional

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver and current Emergency First Response (CPR and first aid)
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Foundations & watermanship

   Course orientation, dive-theory study and the swim, float and equipment-exchange stamina assessments.
2. Day2
   Skills demonstration

   Polish all 24 dive skills to demonstration quality in sheltered water at sites like Sental.
3. Day3
   Guiding practice

   Lead certified divers under supervision on drift sites such as Toyapakeh, reading current and timing entries.
4. Day4
   Practical applications

   Run mapping, search-pattern and rescue-scenario workshops and assist on a real course.
5. Day5
   Internship & assessment

   Complete internship dives, the emergency-plan project and final dive-theory exams to certify.
