Course overview

Earn your first professional rating with the PADI Divemaster course in Ambon on the Banda Sea, training in one of the planet's richest critter and macro environments. You build dive-leadership and supervision skills mapping and guiding sites such as the muck slopes of the Twilight Zone and the Coral Gardens, finishing certified to lead certified divers and assist instructors.

What you’ll learn

• Plan, organise and lead certified divers as a dive professional
• Demonstrate all 24 dive skills to demonstration quality
• Map a dive site and conduct guided dive briefings
• Assist an instructor with student divers in confined and open water
• Run dive-management exercises and the equipment-exchange skill
• Apply dive theory, physics and physiology to real-world supervision

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 18
• PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification)
• PADI Rescue Diver
• Emergency First Response (primary and secondary care) within 24 months
• At least 40 logged dives to begin and 60 to certify
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Orientation & watermanship

   Programme briefing, dive-theory introduction and the swim, float and tow stamina assessments.
2. Day2
   Skill demonstration

   Refine all 24 core skills to demonstration quality in sheltered Ambon Bay.
3. Day3
   Dive theory

   Work through physics, physiology, equipment and the RDP, then sit the exams.
4. Day4
   Mapping & management

   Map a local site such as the Coral Gardens and run dive-management and rescue scenarios.
5. Day5
   Internship

   Assist an instructor with real students in confined water and on local reef dives.
6. Day6
   Assessment & certification

   Complete practical assessments, debrief and register as a PADI Divemaster.
