Course overview

The PADI Deep Diver specialty extends your range to the recreational limit of 40 metres, opening up the deeper rocky reefs and pinnacles around Trincomalee. Over four dives off Nilaveli and the sites near Swami Rock, you learn to plan deep dives, manage gas and recognise narcosis, where schools of barracuda, trevally and rays gather over sandy and rocky bottoms.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to recreational depths up to 40m
• Manage gas supply and no-decompression limits at depth
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Set up and use a safety/deco cylinder where needed
• Monitor colour change and the effects of depth
• Handle ascents, safety stops and buddy contact at depth

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent)
• Comfortable with buoyancy control
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Deep planning & first dives

   Cover deep-dive theory and planning, then make progressively deeper dives on Trincomalee's rocky sites.
2. Day2
   To 40 metres & certification

   Complete dives to recreational limits near Swami Rock, practising gas management and narcosis awareness, then certify.
