Course overview

Extend your range to the recreational limit with the PADI Deep Diver specialty out of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz Island. You learn dive planning, gas management and narcosis awareness to 40 metres at deep Galapagos sites like the terraced walls of Cousins Rock and the drop-off at Beagle Rocks, where pelagics cruise in the blue. You earn the PADI Deep Diver certification on completion.

What you’ll learn

• Plan and execute dives to the recreational limit of 40 metres
• Manage gas supply, turn pressure and ascent margins
• Recognise and respond to nitrogen narcosis
• Use a contingency plan and safety stops with reserve gas
• Account for cooler temperatures and current at depth

Prerequisites

• Minimum age 15
• PADI Adventure Diver or Advanced Open Water (or equivalent)
• Comfortable with the planned depth progression
• Diver medical clearance signed by a physician

Day-by-day itinerary

1. Day1
   Planning & first descents

   Deep theory plus two progressively deeper dives building toward 30 metres at sites like Cousins Rock.
2. Day2
   To the recreational limit

   Two further dives reaching up to 40 metres with full planning, gas checks and narcosis monitoring at Beagle Rocks or similar.
